Executive Board Report: Highlights from the Vice President for Member Engagement

By: Sadaf Ali, MA CCC-SLP, Vice President for Member Engagement

As the Texas Speech-Language-Hearing Association (TSHA) Vice President for Member Engagement, I am working hard to keep TSHA members, non-members, other professionals, students, and the public at large updated on all important information regarding speech-language pathology and audiology.

We continue to collaborate with our phenomenal state office to increase our reach to our members via social media. The Social Media Committee works hard to curate important information to post on Instagram and Facebook.

This year, we hope to continue to grow our social media following and highlight more of the incredible work our members are doing in the fields as well as the pertinent information that affects our fields daily. Additionally, keep an eye out as we build our professional social media networks on LinkedIn.

Our Membership Committee collaborates regularly with speech-language pathologists (SLPs) and audiologists across the state to help meet the needs of the professions throughout the state of Texas. The committee also has worked hard to plan content for National-Speech-Language-Hearing Month to celebrate and promote SLPs and audiologists and their work throughout the state.

At the TSHA 2024 Convention in Fort Worth, our Diversity Committee put on their third Diversity Forum, during which they discussed the work they have done relating to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the fields of speech-language pathology and audiology. The forum collaborated with members of the audience to discuss and brainstorm through the wins and challenges in our fields as a group. We look forward to continuing to work hard to increase the equity and diversity of our fields.

Our dedicated team of volunteers has worked hard to keep TSHA members and non-members alike up-to-date on all of the ongoing concerns and updates in our fields. The following volunteers have worked hard to assist me as the Vice President of Member Engagement this year.
