As I enter the role of Vice President of Professional Services at the Texas Speech-Language-Hearing Association (TSHA), I've had the privilege of witnessing firsthand the extraordinary contributions of our volunteers. Beyond the invaluable hours they dedicate, I've come to recognize a profound truth: Our volunteers are a reservoir of untapped talent, a force multiplier that deserves our unwavering appreciation and strategic cultivation.

The Texas Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation (TSHF) is excited to continue intentional efforts in facilitating leadership development for current and future leaders of the Texas Speech-Language-Hearing Association (TSHA). These leadership training initiatives will be supported by the TSHF through the Julie Beth Noel Leadership Development Fund. 

Cafe TSHA is an initiative of the TSHA Publications Board. Levity Lounge is a walk on the lighter side. Tips for Tx offers clever hacks to up your therapy game. Tech Bytes covers new and noteworthy technology finds. Student Swap provides student-focused ideas and inspiration. Wellness Corner emphasizes self-care for service providers. We encourage you to submit your ideas to publications@txsha.org for consideration for publication in future issues. 

The 89^th legislative session of the Texas Legislature is well underway. The Texas Speech-Language-Hearing Association (TSHA) is closely monitoring more than 100 bills we think may have some impact on the professions of speech-language pathology and audiology. One area we are closely monitoring and advocating for includes issues related to public schools.

The 89^th Legislative Session of the Texas legislature is well under-way. The Texas Speech-Language Hearing Association (TSHA) is closely monitoring over 100 bills that we think may have some impact on the professions of speech-language pathology and audiology. One area of focus is voucher legislation.  We recognize that our members and colleagues have specific questions about voucher legislation, such as what is TSHA’s position on vouchers, and what are we advocating for related to vouchers and/or school choice legislation. 

We have begun an exciting new year of planning resources and initiatives for our Texas Speech-Language-Hearing Association (TSHA) members! This is driven by our talented slate of Executive Council members, which includes committee chairs and committee members who are already planning to achieve their goals within our strategic plan for 2025. The 2025 Executive Council (EC) is comprised of TSHA volunteer members who are either continuing their roles from 2024 or who have recently started a new term.
