The American Academy of Audiology (AAA), Academy of Doctors of Audiology (ADA), and American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) have issued a formal response to the American Academy of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery (AAO-HNS) rebutting its recent letter to Congress opposing the Medicare Audiology Access Improvement Act (S.1996/H.R.2757) and asking for a meeting to discuss the bill.

In 2025, the fields of speech-language pathology (SLP) and audiology stand at a critical juncture. As global societies become increasingly interconnected and diverse, the need for a workforce that reflects and understands this rich tapestry of cultures and languages is not merely a matter of social justice; it is a fundamental pillar of effective, equitable, and ethical care.

The 69th Annual Convention and Exhibition of the Texas Speech-Language-Hearing Association (TSHA) came to San Antonio on May 1-3 ready to spark innovation and enlighten with knowledge. More than 2,300 attendees and exhibitors came together from near and far across the great state of Texas for this year’s Convention for continuing education, professional development, and networking opportunities.

The Texas Speech-Language-Hearing Association (TSHA) Convention in San Antonio always feels festive, and many of my favorite TSHA Convention memories are from occasions when TSHA convenes in San Antonio. This year’s Convention during the first weekend in May aligned perfectly with Fiesta, and the parades, street festivals, and pop-up markets around every corner made it feel particularly festive in the city! It was so fun to see people wearing their flower crowns at Convention and embracing the fact that there really was a celebration going on just outside the convention halls.

The Texas Speech-Language-Hearing Association (TSHA) Convention Scholarship Committee reviewed applications to award TSHA members and student members with scholarships to attend the TSHA 2025 Convention in San Antonio.
