Executive Board Report: A Look Back at the TSHA 2025 Convention

The 69th Annual Convention and Exhibition of the Texas Speech-Language-Hearing Association (TSHA) came to San Antonio on May 1-3 ready to spark innovation and enlighten with knowledge. More than 2,300 attendees and exhibitors came together from near and far across the great state of Texas for this year’s Convention for continuing education, professional development, and networking opportunities.

Reflections from the Riverwalk: The TSHA 2025 Convention

The Texas Speech-Language-Hearing Association (TSHA) Convention in San Antonio always feels festive, and many of my favorite TSHA Convention memories are from occasions when TSHA convenes in San Antonio. This year’s Convention during the first weekend in May aligned perfectly with Fiesta, and the parades, street festivals, and pop-up markets around every corner made it feel particularly festive in the city! It was so fun to see people wearing their flower crowns at Convention and embracing the fact that there really was a celebration going on just outside the convention halls.

TSHA Honors Eight Members at Convention

At the Texas Speech-Language-Hearing Association (TSHA) 2025 Convention in San Antonio, eight TSHA volunteers were honored at the Texas Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation’s Annual Breakfast Event. The TSHA Honors and Awards Committee received nominations prior to Convention and, with approval of the TSHA Executive Board, selected eight nominees to receive these honors. That is the highest number of honorees in recent TSHA history!

Foundation News: Scholarships Awarded at the Texas Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation Breakfast

The mission of the Texas Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation (TSHF) is to improve the lives of people with communication disorders by supporting research, education, and service endeavors on their behalf. The TSHF was established in 1985, and it has grown significantly since then. Scholarships are awarded to graduate students in audiology and speech-language pathology from almost every program in Texas.

Student Spotlight: Student Perspectives on Convention

Leading up to the Texas Speech-Language-Hearing Association (TSHA) 2025 Convention, I dedicated a significant amount of time to thinking about what Convention means to our student members. We do not need continuing education credits like licensed clinicians do, yet hundreds of students attend every year. At Convention, I had the chance to speak with many students about what TSHA Convention means to them.
