Continuing education is one of the cornerstones of our professions. Whether advancing clinical skills, exploring new areas of practice, or staying current with licensure and certification requirements, earning Continuing Education Units (CEUs) is an essential part of the professional journey, and the Texas Speech-Language-Hearing Association (TSHA) is committed to making this process both accessible and rewarding.
The good news is that TSHA members have a wide range of CEU opportunities available throughout the year, including many that are free or low-cost. By taking advantage of these offerings, you can earn CEUs, connect with experts in the fields, and ensure preparedness to meet professional requirements without breaking the bank. Below is a reminder of the many ways TSHA supports members’ professional development, with highlights of what is already available and a preview of what is being planned.
Free and Low-Cost CEU Options
One of the best membership benefits is access to free and discounted CEU opportunities. These can be found under the Education section of the TSHA website at https://www.txsha.org/Education/Professional-Development.
Through this portal, you will find:
- Free CEU Opportunities. Several courses and webinars are offered at no cost to TSHA members, allowing you to build knowledge while keeping expenses low.
- Low-Cost Online Options. Many additional webinars are available at a reduced member rate, ensuring you receive high-quality continuing education at an affordable price.
- Discounts on Advanced Offerings. Members also receive significant savings on advanced webinars, helping you gain deeper expertise in specific areas of practice.
If you are looking for convenient, flexible CEUs, this is the perfect place to start.
Webinars and Advanced Webinars
TSHA’s ongoing webinar series gives you direct access to leading voices in the fields. Affectionately known as Webinar Wednesday, these lunch-hour sessions (12 p.m. to 1 p.m.) cover a range of topics pertinent to the speech-language pathologists, speech-language pathology assistants, and audiologists across the state. For example, in November, we will be discussing the use of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) and children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing (DHH) with Blair Richlin. In December, Dr. Kim Cavitt will speak on the Medicare Audiology Access Improvement Act (MAAIA). These sessions are designed to provide timely, relevant information on clinical practice, research updates, and innovative strategies. Many are recorded so you can watch on your own schedule. For those seeking a deeper dive, Advanced Webinars provide a more extensive exploration of complex topics, such as “Assessing Narrative Language in the Context of Dialect Variation: A Strengths-Based Approach.” The full schedule and registration details for both webinars and advanced webinars can be found at https://www.txsha.org/Education/Professional-Development.
If you do not see the complete calendar just yet, don’t worry! TSHA is actively building out the schedule for the remainder of the year. Keeping this page bookmarked will ensure you are among the first to see new opportunities as they are announced.
On-Demand Learning
In addition to live webinars, TSHA offers an extensive library of on-demand learning opportunities. This format is perfect for busy professionals, letting you learn on your own time and pace. These courses are available year-round, so you can plan and earn CEUs when it is most convenient for you.
The TSHA Convention: Our Premier CEU Event
While online offerings are invaluable, nothing quite compares to the annual TSHA Convention. Each year, thousands of professionals come together for days filled with education, networking, and inspiration. With dozens of sessions covering every area of speech-language pathology and audiology, the Convention offers more CEU opportunities in one place than any other event in Texas.
Mark your calendars now because the TSHA 2026 Convention will be a can’t-miss event for your professional development. Attending ensures you not only meet CEU requirements but also engage with colleagues, discover new resources, and celebrate the impact of our professions. More details on the TSHA 2026 Convention can be found at https://www.txsha.org/Convention/Convention.
