Scholarships

In 2026, TSHA is pleased to offer five (5) TSHA Professional Member Scholarships and ten (10) TSHA Student Scholarships to cover the cost of convention registration fees. 

Applicant Requirements

TSHA Professional Member Scholarships

  • Must be a practicing professional in the fields of speech-language pathology or audiology
  • Must be a current Active or Associate level TSHA member in good standing (membership valid through December 31, 2026)

TSHA Student Scholarships

  • Must be a current student in the fields of speech-language pathology or audiology
  • Must be a current TSHA  Student member in good standing (membership valid through December 31, 2026)

If you are not currently a TSHA member, please join TSHA or renew your membership prior to submitting your application. Memberships purchased after October 1, 2025 will expire on December 31, 2026.

Recipient Expectations

If you are selected to receive a TSHA 2026 Scholarship, you are expected to meet the following expectations: 

  • Be available to attend the TSHA 70th Annual Convention & Exhibition, February 19-21, 2026 in Fort Worth
  • Maintain timely communication with TSHA Staff regarding acceptance of your scholarship and confirmation of your convention attendance
  • Meet onsite for a photo (time and location to be shared by TSHA Staff prior to event)
  • Submit a headshot to TSHA Staff
  • Submit a copy of the sessions you attended to TSHA Staff within one week following TSHA 2026
  • Submit a meaningful statement regarding your convention attendance (reflect on your favorite sessions, new connections, how your professional practice was enhanced, etc.) to TSHA Staff within one week following TSHA 2026

Please note: your photo and statement may be used in the Communicologist and for the promotion of future convention scholarship opportunities.  

Application Evaluation Criteria

Following the application deadline, all application materials are blinded from any identifying information and ranked by each of the TSHA Convention Scholarship Co-Chairs based on the following points-based rubric: 

Meets Criteria

  • Current TSHA Member in good standing (valid membership through December 31, 2026) (1 point) 
  • Not receiving funding from an additional source (1 point) 

Personal Statement Evaluation

Each applicant will be asked to respond to the following question: How will attending the TSHA Convention further your professional development? Responses will be evaluated based on the following criteria: 

Poorly written, lack of effort or focus, no explanation of need for the scholarship. Limited to no insight provided about the applicant's character, strength and professional goals. 0 points
Contains some composition errors or response is not clearly thought out. Gave limited details to support the need for the scholarship. Contains some, but limited information about the applicant's character, strength and professional goals. 1 point
Well written, but could have been more focused and in-depth. Includes details to support the need for a scholarship. Provides insight into the applicant's character strengths and professional goals. 2-3 points
Well-written with detailed responses that are thoughtful and focused. Includes details to support the need for a scholarship. Provides insight into the applicant's character strengths and professional goals. 4-5 points

The TSHA Convention Scholarship Co-Chairs will average their rankings for each applicant. The top five TSHA Professional Member Scholarship applications and the top 10 TSHA Student Member Scholarship applications will be selected to receive scholarships to cover the cost of convention registration. In the event that a first-choice applicant is no longer able to attend convention, TSHA Staff will contact applicants from list of selected alternate recipeints. 

Application Timeline

The window to apply for a TSHA 2026  is open through Wednesday, November 12. Scholarship applicants can expect to be notified of their status via email from TSHA Staff by late December. For questions, please contact staff@txsha.org.
