The Texas Speech-Language-Hearing Association (TSHA) Annual Convention once again brought together speech-language pathologists (SLPs), audiologists, students, and exhibitors from across the state for a dynamic few days of learning, connection, and celebration. From inspiring keynote moments to meaningful learning opportunities, this year’s Convention showcased the strength and heart of our professional community.
An Inspiring Keynote
Convention was kicked off by a powerful keynote address by Judy Rich and Nathalie Lebrun. They showcased five powerful personal stories from TSHA members and welcomed attendees into the TSHA constellation—a community of stars whose connections illuminate and strengthen our fields. Their speed-networking sessions supported participants in developing skills for building authentic relationships at Convention and throughout their careers.
Celebrating TSHA’s 70th Birthday
The exhibit hall transformed into a celebration space as members gathered to honor TSHA’s 70th birthday. The welcome reception blended history with excitement for the future and was a joyful reminder that our collective legacy continues to grow through the dedication of each member.
Giving Back: Philanthropy in Action
Convention attendees demonstrated their generosity through this year’s philanthropy project, benefitting Lena Pope’s mission to support children and families through counseling, education, and behavior interventions. TSHA members provided toolkits with therapy materials for counselors entering the homes of families and children, and we created 122 affirmation cards to encourage their work.
Networking That Matters
This year’s expanded networking sessions created intentional spaces for meaningful dialogue. Roundtable hot topic discussions allowed participants to dive deep into pathway-specific issues while other networking sessions facilitated connections between students and seasoned professionals and employers. Whether reconnecting with longtime colleagues or meeting first-time attendees, members walked away with practical ideas and new professional relationships.
Energizing the Next Generation
Students were front and center throughout Convention. Dedicated student activities provided opportunities for mentorship, career exploration, and leadership development. From student-focused sessions to networking events with seasoned professionals, the energy and enthusiasm of future SLPs and audiologists were unmistakable. Their engagement serves as a powerful reminder that the future of our professions is bright.
As we reflect on another successful annual convention, it’s clear that TSHA continues to be more than a professional association; it is a vibrant community. Thank you to everyone who attended, presented, volunteered, and celebrated. We look forward to building on this momentum together, and we hope to see you in Dallas on January 29-30 for the TSHA 2027 Convention!
