Tips for Tx

Studies have shown that students with disabilities “are more likely to experience trauma, including violence and neglect, than students without disabilities.” As a result, we must be aware of trauma-informed practices to support our children’s communication and confidence. Kara Lynch and Leah Totten of Sprouted Roots Therapy and Wellness offer great reminders with 5 Trauma-Informed Tips for Speech Therapists.

Tech Bytes

The Virtual Speech Center is a website that provides a comprehensive list of app recommendations to address various communication needs. Their list is organized by categories, age groups, and bundles. If you have not seen it and are looking for some new apps to integrate into your speech therapy, the Virtual Speech Center may be a great place to start.

Student Swap

The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) updated its language for certification standards at the start of the new year. It will be beneficial to review ASHA’s updated certification standards as you progress through your program to stay on target.

Wellness Corner
