Keeping the Progress Going: Returning to College after a Traumatic Brain Injury
This presentation will describe a research program supporting students with traumatic brain injury (TBI) as they returned to post-secondary educational settings. This evidence-based dynamic approach coached high-functioning individuals with TBI to self-regulate in three domains: self-learning, self-management, self-advocacy. All students maintained their academic status and earned their degrees. Integral to this approach is the collaboration between student and clinician, so that the process of setting, measuring, and monitoring goals fosters student engagement in the coaching process as well as generalization to untrained tasks.
