TSHA Honors

Celebrating excellence in the professions of speech-language pathology and audiology.

The Honors and Awards of the Texas Speech-Language-Hearing Association are intended to identify and recognize those current TSHA members whose contributions to the professions of speech-language pathology and/or audiology in the state of Texas are significant, outstanding, and excellent. TSHA members may nominate, sponsor, or co-sponsor a nominee for any of the Association’s prestigious awards. The TSHA Honors and Awards are presented annually during the TSHA Convention.

Award of Honors

The Award of Honors is presented to individual speech-language pathologists and/or audiologists who have been members of TSHA for 10 or more years, have contributed significantly to TSHA, and have demonstrated outstanding leadership and exemplary professional excellence.

Jack L. Bangs Award

The Jack L. Bangs award is presented to individual speech-language pathologists and/or audiologists who have been members of TSHA for 10 or more years and members of ASHA for 15 or more years, have contributed significantly to TSHA and ASHA, and have demonstrated outstanding leadership and exemplary professional excellence.

Hall of Fame Award

The Hall of Fame award is presented to speech-language pathologists (individuals and/or groups) who have demonstrated exemplary commitment and contribution in serving those with communication disorders.

Public Service Award

The Public Service award is presented to individuals other than speech-language pathologists and/or audiologists who have consistently supported the goals of TSHA and whose outstanding contributions and efforts have resulted in significant improvements of the quality of life for individuals with communication disorders.

Special Commendation Award

The Special Commendation Award is awarded to individual speech-language pathologists and/or audiologists who are members of TSHA in recognition of outstanding committee work or other association activity. This award is also presented to those individuals, other than speech-language pathologists and audiologists, who have supported the professions and the goals of TSHA during the immediate past year.

TSHA Nominee for the Rolland J. Van Hattum Award (American Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation)

The TSHA Nominee for the Rolland J. Van Hattum Award is presented to an individual speech-language pathologist and/or audiologist in recognition of outstanding commitment and specific contribution to the delivery of speech-language pathology and/or audiology services in a school setting. Selection of the award recipient is based on the criteria established by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation.

TSHA Nominee for the Louis M. DiCarlo Award (American Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation)

The TSHA Nominee for the Louis M. DiCarlo Award is presented to an individual speech-language pathologist and/or audiologist in recognition of advancement of knowledge in clinical practice as evidenced by significant accomplishment within the past three years. Selection of the award recipient is based on the criteria established by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation.

TSHA Nominee for the Frank R. Kleffner Clinical Career Award (American Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation)

The TSHA Nominee for the Frank R. Kleffner Clinical Career Award is presented to an individual speech-language pathologist and/or audiologist in recognition of outstanding contributions to clinical science and practice in communication science and disorders over a period of 20 years or longer. Selection of the award recipient is based on the criteria established by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation.
