Why Explicit Instruction of Font Variation is Needed to Remediate Decoding Deficits

Track: Language Learning Disabilities

Session Number: 4110
Date: Thu, Mar 1st, 2018
Time: 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Description:

Studies show that Sans Serif, monospaced and roman style fonts significantly improve reading performance over serif, proportional or italic fonts.   This presentation will identify the need for explicit instruction on the concept of font variation for students that are visual learners to prevent the migration, inversion and reversal errors that occur when the child is reading an unfamiliar font.
