Patterns of SLP Consults for Aspiration Pneumonia: A Follow-up Study

A retrospective study of 811 hospital records examined the relationship of SLP dysphagia consults to medical outcomes in aspiration pneumonia patients in an acute-care setting. Results showed significant differences in length of stay, mortality, and morbidity (relative to pneumonia severity). Results are related to hospital policies.
