Special Student-Only Membership Benefits
Student membership is only $25 per year, and student member Convention registration is only $30! Potential members in or during their Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) who were not student members of TSHA will receive a 25% active membership discount on their dues with documentation from the CF Supervisor stating that they are supervising the CFY. Students who have been members of the Association for 1 year will receive a 50% discount on their first yaer active or associate member dues. Students who have been members for 2 years will receive a 100% discount on their first year active or associate member dues.

What is the TSHA?
The mission of our Association is to empower speech-language pathologists and audiologists in the spirit of partnership with consumers and families. The TSHA is committed to achieving excellence in education, professional development, and leadership through the application of the human and financial resources of the association. Our purpose is to:

  • Encourage and promote the role of the speech-language pathologist and audiologist as a professional in the delivery of clinical services to persons with communication disorders;
  • Encourage basic scientific study of processes of individual human communication with special reference to speech, hearing and language;
  • Encourage clinical research and the interchange of information among speech-language pathologists/audiologists and other professionals concerned with human communication and its disorders;
  • Promote prevention of disorders of human communication;
  • To provide continuing educational activities and opportunities for professional growth and fellowship;
  • Promote the highest standards of preparation and practice in speech-language pathology and audiology;
  • Promote public awareness and influence public opinions concerning the professions of speech-language pathology/audiology and the needs of persons with communication disorders; and
  • Encourage affiliation and cooperation with other persons and organizations having similar interests and objectives through legislative and professional advocacy.

Continuing Education
TSHA's Continuing Education and Convention Committees work throughout the year to provide you with a challenging variety of seminars and workshops to maintain your Texas state license and your ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC).

  • NEW! TSHA CE Registry: View your continuing education credits online through the TSHA website. When you attend a TSHA approved course, the hours you earn will be posted on a special page made available to you to print out and turn into the State Board of Examiners should you be audited or just want to know how many hours you've accumulated!
  • Annual Convention: Join over 4,000 of your industry peers each spring during our Annual Convention. We feature an average of 20 possible TSHA CE credits, and the largest Exhibit Hall in the south with over 200 vendors and demonstrations. You will find innovative presentations, poster sessions, short courses, job placement services, networking opportunities, and so much more! Members of the TSHA receive a substantial registration discount for the Convention each yaer.
  • One-day conferences and mini-seminars are held across the state at various times of the year.
  • Independent study opportunities are available.

Legislative Advocacy
The TSHA monitors administrative and legislative issues that affect the industry such as reimbursement, who provides services, how services are provided, quality of service, licensure, and your job. The TSHA also provides input at the national level via the Legislative Councilors that represent Texas in ASHA leadership. As a TSHA member, you can be assured that your profession has a voice.

The TSHA has recently has its website renovated to bring you an easy-to-read, more accessible resource. Members can access a directory of current members at any time and receive discounts on web advertising. Anything you need can be found on the TSHA website including Shoppe TSHA, online membership renewal, Convention registration, consumer resources, links, and so much more!

NEW! Job Classifieds: The TSHA now has a great new way to recruit new employees. Post your openings online on the 'Job Postings' section.

Publications
The TSHA offers great publications to its membership each year! As a TSHA member you will receive all of these publications at no charge.

  • The TSHA's newsletter, the Communicologist is published 6 times annually and includes current professional news, legislative updates, member news, continuing Education calendars and events, and much more!
  • The TSHA's peer reviewed journal, TEJAS, is published annually and provides members with the opportunity to share research with colleagues and learn about the latest techniques and products.
  • The TSHA publishes informative brochures and other products such as the book Matt Learns To Read, designed to help you promote your practice and the professions.
